M2E: What Malifaux Has Done Right

So, if you hadn't noticed, there's been an edition change in Malifaux. M2E (Malifaux 2nd Edition) was up for a public beta in June and July, pre-released at GenCon (with the very nice addition that those of us not attending that event could still get it from the web store for those few days) and has now been sent to retailers for real.

This is my take.

General Ramblings: Pre-measuring

There's been a recent shift in philosophy within the games I play.

This shift replaces an old paradigm, and has been called pre-measuring.

Hobby: Nuggets of Wisdom part 2

Part 2. Part 1 is here.

I'll get right to it.

Oh, and this one ended up being a lot about dipping. You've been warned.

Hobby: Nuggets of Wisdom

I've had a crazy idea.

Since I am not working during the summer (I'm a teacher), I'll have time to post here more regularly.

Yeah, that cannot in any foreseeable way go wrong.

Not often I have an opportunity to quote the Bible... Might be the whole atheist thing.
So, I'll start by sharing a few nuggets of Hobby wisdom I've acquired over the years. Some will be well known and obvious, others will be useless to you personally, and some just might be useful to someone.

If nothing else, you'll get to hear me whine about Superglue Pain.

General Ramblings: The Limits of My Attention Span

How many games can one person play?

It's a question that has been bugging me from the backseat of my mind for a while. Is there in fact an upper limit to how many separate games a single person can play before the total enjoyment starts dipping?

The Flaws of Fantasy

Warhammer Fantasy has seen a bit of a surge at the club lately. Setting up the large regiments, herding the monsters, putting tinder to black powder, it is all the rage since a few weeks. With teh second edition of Malifaux, however... who knows?

The Merits of Malifaux

Out of nowhere, he appears, the great and mysterious Incarias!

Watch as he pulls yet another opinion-laden post of of his... thin air!

These are some of the merits of Malifaux.

WarmaHordes - Rating a fictional model: pBasher

This is the companion post to that piece I just did on ratng Casters. Here I'll give the promsied example based on a fictitious Warcaster named pBasher.

WarmaHordes - rating Casters

I've been thinking a lot about WarmaHordes lately. More specifically, I've been thinking a lot about how to grade models (and then primarily Warcasters and Warlocks) on a power level scale.

The thing that makes this a truly daunting prospect is the problem with looking at anything in isolation. Some of the very best models in the game are good only because of what they do for other models, or because of the support other models offer.

Today is Motivational Saturday here at Incarias Speaks.
